Well we've gone weeks without snow here and as always people forget how to drive when the snow flys. We got some snow overnight and I was on the losing end of a bad driver this morning on my way to work. A girl in an old square body Ford Taurus lost it entering the highway and skidded across both lanes of traffic into the left lane where I had moved over to allow traffic to merge. I saw it coming but there was nothing much I could do, it was slick as snot so I knew slamming on my brakes would just put me in a spin so I just braced and held the wheel straight. Her car took the impact in the left rear quarter and trunk area and by the pics you can see where I took it. In this case mass won, my near 6000 pounds sent her car for a complete spin into the ditch and my truck stuck to the road and I rolled to a stop out of the way of traffic. Neither of us are hurt but I bet she will be sore tomorrow, she went for a hell of a ride into that ditch. I imagine she got a ticket, cop told me it was clear it was her fault and she admitted to it. Im glad no one was hurt and Im also glad I was able to drive away from it, her car left on a flatbed.

Oh no! I'm glad no one was hurt too man. That just sucks...but good part is you get to drive the ranger for a bit!
Yeah thanks guys. The ranger is back on the road now but Im not happy about driving it in the salt and winter crud, it hasnt seen winter roads in about 5 years. lol
and you get all new stuff for free. New bumper, fender, grill, headlight, fender trim peice, maybe more. But good thing no ones hurt thats the most important part, but I always worry more on my vehicle then about myself
Yeah, it will def be getting some new parts. lol But yeah, I stress about my trucks too but when it comes down to it they have a job to do and thats to protect the people inside them at their sacrifice often times. Im impressed at how well my truck took this impact really.
yeah I was impressed when I jumped a 5 ft wide ditch and ended up going straght down into it taking the stop sign out and having it fly down the road 3 blocks. Only thing wrong that needed fixed was a new bumper.
Idk if your stating that towards my comment, but I wasnt driving a ford when i did this it was a foreign plastic car. You know the ones that can be caught on fire by a lighter lol
Damn, you got really lucky, that looks like it was inches from taking out your rad. Good your allright. Trucks FTW
I bet it was scary watching a car come right for you and not being able to do anything that would be safe or maybe making the outcome even worse. My key thoughts on driving. If its raining or snowing drive safe and slow. If its perfect weather out drive how you want but dont get cocky and be very aware.
Yard Time forGonna be a nice insurance claim man. Looks like it's time for a junkyard run! lol Glad to hear y'all were safe
Yeah it happened in slow motion, pretty helpless feeling knowing that its either hit the car or drive into the ditch and smack a tree. I think I chose the right path, cars give more than trees. lol It just sucks because I am a careful driver but I can control myself and my truck all I want but I cant control the others around me.
Yea, I know what you mean about people forgetting how to drive when winter weather hits. Sorry to hear about your truck man. Glad to hear both parties were not seriously injured.
Ha ha yeah. The cop was surprised at the lack of damage compared to the other car. Most of the damage was to superficial plastic parts, the structure parts held strong.
Just goes to show what a REAL truck can withstand. Haha. That's one thing I hate about winter driving. I'm perfectly confident in my skills, but not in the other people's.
Glad to hear you are ok bud! Sucks about the truck but hey, maybe it's time for some upgrades with the insurance money!
